what I have been doing.

I have been so busy.  I don't even know where to begin.  Lately, though, I have been working on something kind of exciting...
Picture 3
Yes, a professional website. On my after graduation "to do" list.  Still so much more to go, but at least the thank-you cards are out from the party.  I'll be updating ya'll soon, just another manic Monday...

-Figured out who the 5th roomie is going to be next year

And I cannot wait to tell you all about it...

if you're having stealing problems I feel bad for ya son!

There are a few stories that will go down in college history.  Like when Karen and I threw the nasty food on Sir Philip's porch.  Or Halloween running around on giant downtown avenues with Emma dressed as Amy Winehouse.  And then there was last night...

I went to bed around midnight after going out for a few drinks with J.  It was quiet, usual.  Spring Jam is going on right now, and so people have been busier than usual, but I wanted to sleep.

3:30 am:
Kate comes home.  "Someone stole all my stuff."  Ok.  Now I'm up, and I'm angry.  She had been dancing at Sigma Chi, her purse at her feet.  Then it dissapeared.  She searched, the guys at SAE helped out.  One of them decided to call her phone, to see if the thief would answer.  And that's where it usually ends.  But oh, not this time.

"Ima cut you white boy" the thief said to the nice SAE "I'll give everything back to you for fifty dollars.  meet me at the McDonald's."

Lord have mercy.  A ransome for a cute brown coach purse and a phone?  So then all the SAE's and the cops and Kate go to McDonald's.

"I'll be in a blue polo" he said "Ima bring my boys."  He never showed.

Fast forward to Kate coming home.  So now I am pissed.  You know I had to call her phone.  He picked up.

"Let me tell you something.  You have no idea who you are messing with!  I have no idea who you are, but you do not steal from my friend.  I know people, you can get put in prison.  You will be arrested."

"You're a b*tch"

"That's right I am!  And you are going to go to prison!"

"Ima cut you!"

"I'm sure.  And I've got my glock with me"

(just kidding, but look at this pretty pink one!)

Then he hung up on me. Guess he was scared.  The credit cards were never used, and the phone got cancelled this morning.  Kate and I have been running around, I bought her lunch, and I think she's feeling better.  I finally got to sleep this morning at 5:30am.

Love my life! I've got 99 problems but friends and comedy ain't one of them!

are you excited?

2009_obsessed_002

I usually don't get excited about entertainment.  Do I really have a reason to be?  It took me an entire year to learn how to work the AOII TV because Kate was always with me, and always turned it on, so that left viewing to a minimum.  She's an enabler!  I watch lots of movies at home with J, maybe too many, but what are you supposed to do in the freezing MN winter? But going to movies and watching TV shows... not really my thing.

However.  I cannot wait to see Obsessed.  Can we talk about this for a minute?  What is better than a good mystery involving families and a crazed temp worker?  I have seen the trailer, extended trailer, and trailer with commentary all on youtube, and I have to say that this reminds me greatly of What Lies Beneath.  Another good, good movie. I cannot critique this yet, as it's not in theaters, but I did get a Thursday night pass for two (thanks to people giving Greeks goodies), but I have a night class.  So most likely I'll see it on Saturday.

I'm excited to see how the race politics play out in this.  I think there's a nasty stereotype that given the oppourtunity, a black man will always leave his [black] wife for a white woman.  There is so much wrong with that.  However, I'm not going to get on interracial relatonships since I am a) in one b) a product of one c) a supporter of them- and wouldn't that defeat my entire up-in-arms spiritual battle?  I just don't like seeing other [black] women getting the short end of the stick!  I love seeing black families portrayed as strong, not in the hood, and beautiful.  Too often it's baby-daddy-broke-you know... sigh, how did I get into this already, Lord it's only 9:22am! But I digress, I love Beoyonce, and I think she is not only beautiful but everything else that a woman should be: confident, smart, and talented.  I am looking forward to seeing this, what do you think? Will you go?  Do you hate Beyonce?  Did you know that "Diva" is a female version of a... good morning!

stop that!

I have had such a crazy week: four papers and two tests.  I feel like my brain is going to explode, graduation come soon!  So, I have a German History night class, and we had a test- typical deal, blue books and lots of noise from turning pages, pencil erases, coughs, you got it.

I am QUIETLY eating some chocolate covered expresso beans.  They are so delicious.  Just enjoying them as I write away in the blue book about the Weimar Republic, and all of a sudden... a boy sitting a full row ahead of me and down four desks says, out loud, in a disruptive tone- "stop that!  stop eating while I'm taking this!"  I don't know what was going through his mind, but how rude- way to make MORE noise than necessary.  So what did I do?  I look him straight in the eye, and plopped two more expresso beans in my mouth and smiled.  Bet he won't do that again! Bwaha.

Later, near the end of class I checked my phone.  Text message from J: let me know when you're done with class, I want to see you.  As I stepped out, about to call him, he walks right up to me.  He just met me at the door- how sweet! I have an amazing boyfriend.  Really, I'm a very lucky girl.

she's boxy.

Excuse me, is this become one of those blogs?  You know what I'm talking about, the only subject of entries is about boyfriends and dates and flowers and cuteness, boy-friend-box blog?  Wait, are you confused?  You see, I had this AP English teacher my senior year of high school.  She referred to girls who only talked about their boyfriends as being in the boyfriend box, like they stepped into a box, and that was their identity.  Was she poisoning young minds?  I wonder...

But the reality of it is, when someone comes into your world, and adds to it (not completes), you get kind of thrilled, and want to blog/journal/relate things to it.

I'm kind of excited for J.  He's so smart readers, really he is. The University is sending him to Stanford, the Ivy of the west, to attend some big thing (I'm fuzzy on details)- because HE IS SO SMART AND TAKING OVER THE WORLD!  Just kidding, but he is, and he's grabbing dinner with dad while he's there.  How fun is that?  My dad had never liked any of my boyfriends/dates except J.  He really likes J.  They have violin playing in common, and are both into school/being smart.

J does so much for me.  He surprises me with great dates, flowers, and amazing gifts- gifts of time, energy, and pearls.  I'm blessed.  So, I'm making him a good-bye homemade lunch for tomorrow and... he'll have a cute note to open up from me each day while he's there- I had so much fun making this, and it's so easy to do:

pink.

•It's almost February, the month of pink, and already I've spied a lot of it around.  I'm excited.  It's time for a break from winter darkness as usual.

•And my most favorite... window clings!  $1.99 at Target.  So festive!

_MG_0934 •I am thinking up good ideas for Valentine's day.  J is taking care of our "activity," but I decided I'd be in charge of the meal- brainstorming right now.  Restaurant, homemade? Combination of both? Hmm.  Any ideas?
•Both my parents joined facebook.  It's been hilarious.  Mom and I facebook chatted last night after wine night with Kate, Karen, and the Sigma Nus : )
•I'm looking forward to this amazing semester, and winter melting into spring (we've had nice weather today)

I pledge.

Two weeks ago, during Monday night meeting, we were given a sheet full of hundreds and hundreds of words, all part of our ritual.  We were asked to choose one, and share with the chapter why we choose it.  One word stood out to me, and has remained in my mind since then.

Simplify.

I know this has been a "hot" word since the whole simple-but-really-chic trend started.  But simplifying to me, means a few different things.

Great minds think alike, or else I must of been on the same brain wave as others- because when I read this I was immediately inspired.

Here are some things on my to-do list:
•Design and create party invitations (yes, I'm having a party) and give them out by thanksgiving
•Design and create Christmas cards, send them out by 12/1
•Send out gifts to out-of-town relatives/friends by 12/1 (I already bought gifts)
•Purchase immediate family gifts & wrap them all in coordinating paper by 12/15
•Clean and organize room at sorority house before heading home for break

It probably doesn't seem like much, but to me- along with finals and the normal obligations, it's a ton of stuff.  Let's keep hoping I can step up to the plate and keep on doin' the dang thang like I have been in year's past...

Starbucks now has holiday cups : )

our closeup.

•Well, there are somethings that only a college, er. sorority girl can do can you guess?
•Mmm, it's not sleeping around (ish), or ugg boot-wearning, or seven jeans buying, or complaining about how "hard" life is, or skipping class to get pedicures...
•It's this...

TRYING OUT TO BE ONE OF LAUREN CONRAD'S (yes from The Hills) MODELS FOR A FASHION SHOW

•She sent this promo out to all the sorority houses in the world (I think, details are fuzzy), and apparantly she is gong to pick the "best" ones (mmm yeah, prob not me, lol) and they are going to model her new line in a show.

•And believe it or not, this was not my idea.  Karen begged me to join her, and like a good sorority sister I said yes.

•What did this entail?  Well, two photographers coming to our house for a shoot of course.  Pics? Oh you just wait.
_MG_9495
•Here are the two guys setting up everything, and Karen workin' her charm.  Those guys must love their job.  They go around and photograph sorority girls in front of a banner, and get to chat with them.  Just two New York boys livin' the dream...

•Now it would be wrong to say we didn't enjoy this.  Especially when they said, "now stand like this, and like this" then snapped away.

•Do I do the craziest stuff or what?  Really.  I sometimes cannot even keep up with the mischef I get myself into!
