Well, I am having surgery on Monday. I'm having bilateral bunion removal. I have genes and years of ballet dancing to thank for my bunions and it's time for them to go! I didn't really notice how much my feet hurt until I started doing newborn photography which required me to stand/walk for a few hours. I tried buying some really clunky, dumpy shoes but my feet still hurt after work. It's also been harder for me to take certain exercise classes like zumba.
Anyway, I am grateful that I have such excellent health insurance and that I got to pick the hospital of my choice-- Abbott Northwestern, please! In my opinion, it's the best hospital in MN. I know I am going to be in excellent hands.
After telling him when I wanted to have my surgery and where I wanted the scar to be, my surgeon told me I was kind of demanding and high maintenance :) I told him people like those qualities in me! Then he called me darling.
I'm going to be knocked out, the surgery will take an hour per foot and then I'll be resting for a few weeks!!!
I've done a little preparing for my big day/downtime:
-Applied and paid for my handicapped parking pass :) I know it's not the best attitude but I am SO excited about this. Thrilled actually. Parking is such an expensive drama in Minneapolis and this will make all the difference in March and April when I'm still recovering but need to work.
-Picked up several new books at the library and for my ipad
-Made my hair appointment. I'm getting my hair blown out so I don't have to worry about it while I'm recuperating.
-Made a list of "to-do" projects I have never had the time to get around to until now.
-Did all my paperwork!
-Watered my succulents, cactus and aloe plants :)
-NOT youtubing the surgery... I'm not afraid, just don't like the idea of seeing the scars but I know I'll have to look at the stitches at some point.
Let's do the dang thing! Say a prayer for me, please :)
