I love the city, there is not doubt about it- I am an urban (sometimes suburban) girl, but I also know that the city can wear you down. It's necessary to break out every once and awhile. Despite missing a quite fabulous concert in the city, I opted for a weekend at Karen's lovely cabin in McGregor. It was perfect.
Boo and I drove up Friday evening after my photo shoot at Seward. It was good to get out of the city- of course we had to stop at Dairy Queen where they gave me lip about mixing two flavors of blizzard which they never do at the Dairy Queens in town. Dairy Queen experts need to weigh in here... Emma?
It was such a treat to get to know Karen's boyfriend Conor (yes, with one "n") from Newry, Ireland and Alicia's Dutch boyfriend Douglas- Some people study abroad and come home with cool t-shirts, others pick up lovers. We all had such a great time and it was nice to have men there to do things like drive the boat, put out the fires and take the garbage out (haha). Just kidding- Conor told some really scary Irish banshee stories, like really scary.
On the agenda: eating lots of cheese and crackers, drinking cheap champagne and dancing on the boat (there is a crazy video that will never appear until someone's wedding reception far away, it's pretty sacred!)
All in all it was a perfect weekend trip: I am so thankful for my wonderful and funny friends. Life is rough sometimes, but they make the ride worth it-
