festivus
And I love Christmastime, so it is no shock that on the tail of Thanksgiving I was preparing for making cards and decorating.
There is something so magic and beautiful about Christmas decorations, I try to make the small spaces I have festive just the same.
I suppose nothing gets you in the holiday spirit like getting to meet a real, live reindeer. I felt like the little girl in Prancer. I tried to pet and even attempted a kiss on his nose, but the scrooge in red told me, "he kills elk with those antlers, get away from his face." Obviously I was willing to take the chance! No one can do anything fun anymore without it becoming a safety issue... even kissing a reindeer on the nose.
But on to my decorations, a little church that became mine out at the General Store (place of my childhood desires). This deer (all decked out in glitter) looks perfect along side it. My step-dad, a hunter got a kick out of this. I asked, "have you ever seen a deer like this before in the woods?!" I think he thinks I'm a little nuts. Oh, and those framed butterflies were a souvenir gift my dad brought back for me when in Costa Rica.
My white feather tree with matching white bird ornament. I love miniature trees. This is the third one I've ever own. Yes, we do huge family trees in the living room, but I love having a small tree just for me. White trees are also making a comeback... if done tastefully (of course!)
And here is my second feather tree with lights (did I mention I got these for a great deal?) This one is for my room at the sorority house. And I couldn't find just a plain pink bird, so had to go for something multicolored. It looks fantastic with the sun streaming through onto its feathers.
Pretty isn't it? I love birds. So far things I have noticed a lot of holiday decorating trends are:
•Birds, lots of birds
•Glitter, glitter, glitter
•The colors: white, silver, gray, sky blue and black (not far from autumn and winter's fashion plates)
•Over sized ornaments (the church has a hole in the back for a light, it could stand by itself on a tree...)
•Feathers, stars, balls and strands of clear colored beads

girl your crazy trying to kiss the nose of that reindeer, funny, but crazy

I am in love with the little church. It reminds me of the antique village my mom puts around her Christmas tree.
