halloween party

This weekend everyone (Lindsay, Jimmy, Matt, Carly, my Matt, and me) went out.

We had the best time.  Most everyone went in a 50s, Grease theme.  However, Matt was a "country farm boy," and I was a cat (ears and tail from Joannes' for a whopping $5.00, top and bottom from my collection of work out clothes).

Here is me, Lindsey, and her sister Carly at their parent's house before leaving:

For a few years now I've always done something fun on Halloween.  I hope that continues on into the future, because I just love dressing up in costumes.

Matt looked so funny in his get up.  Lots of people thought he was Huckleberry Fin, and he pulled of that southern accent without a hitch!

For the most part my makeup stayed on, but Lindsey did have to do a few "touch ups" in the bathroom with eyeliner... so we made use of the mirror and my camera to catch a candid shot:

Man, I heart that girl!  Lindsey is so funny, we always have the best time together and last night was no exception.

I am happy to say that I had a really fun time... except, well, I realized I am getting old.

Halloween used to be about horror movies and trick-or-treating with parents/friends.  It was about dressing up in your costume at school and doing all sorts of fun, fall crafts.

At the party we were at another apartment, and it just hit me: we now are living alone!  Eeek!  An another thing, everyone was in couples and a few of them were engaged.  LOL, I guess I never thought I would be at this phase in my life, but I do have to say... I love it!

I love the independence, I love the ability to do what I want- mom doesn't come in to say "go to bed, Katie" (but she does when I'm at home!)  It is also so nice to see people falling in love, finding that special person for them- I know the wedding stage will be next, so I'm bracing myself ; )

So, Happy Halloween to all, young and old!

by far my favorite place

As many of you know I have a thing for all stuff french.

For two summers, several years ago a big group of family and friends rented a house in a tiny village, La Garde Frienet, which is about an hour from St. Tropez. Talk about paradise....

Village

Well, it is shaping up that we might go again, and I am more than siked!

I would be more than thrilled : )

I have so many good memories of this place. I remember each morning going into the village center and talking to all the people (in broken, bad French, of course)! There was a tiny jewlery store that I loved to go into, I never bought anything, but would always speak to the owner. By the end of the trip it was time for me to leave and she said to me, "you are now a French girl!" What a compliment!

On that note I'm off to study for another test...

the dark days of fall

They really have begun.

Thus things get really busy: midterms (one down, two to go!), dropping temps, good books, lots of yummy foods, and friends drawing together for that very long winter ahead...

So I've started reading, and I'm almost done with this:031233708601_bo2204203200_pisitbdp500arr

I love monday night dinners, they're such a nice way to start the week. I'm going to apply for some type of office, I'm not sure which position I want yet-

Matt really is the best thing in the world, he made jello all by himself yesterday for me (of course he had 100 questions...)

Looking forward to the weekend.

in love

and I think that's all there is to say. The visuals, the fashion, the music... wow. And this is why I'm such a big Sophia Coppola fan. Man, I want to go to Versailles again.

checks

we had checks last night

pretty fun, and I love these two photos because they pretty much capture the dynamics of fraternity life. Lets just say that their house must take a lot of wear and tear (way more than ours). The chairs on top of their tables crack me up...

Now, are you wondering what "checks" are?

Don't worry, I was in the dark, too (but hey, that's what Greek life is about!)

Basically 2 sororities and 1 fraternity get together to create stunts. Everyone meets up, works hard, and before the final shebang (tonight) their routines must be "checked." So it's a safety thing. No one wants a broken leg from being thrown up in the air and then dropped...

So why wasn't I cheering?

... Oh my cheer days are done, I handed my pom poms in after 2 years of Basketball cheer in middle school. Some bloody noses and that was all it took, but I do still have some good memories of that ; )

okay? so chic!

_5278562_5294347I love it. Love it.

I am a headband girl, seriously. I wear headbands 4/7 days of the week. I find them everywhere: Target $1 bins, JCrew, and Off of 5th.

Want these. For my Thanksgiving outfit. Do you wear holiday outfits? Someone thought it was funny that I still get Easter dresses. They said, "that is soo cute, but aren't you too old for that?" No. I think not.

Maybe I could plan an outfit around one single headband. Which one do you guys like the best?

should be in bed, but... ETA: toot, toot!

**Toot, toot! My first layout below was featured on Ali Edward's blog. I am siked. Here's the link to her post, my lo is the first she linked. Man that challenge was good!. **

I just can't sleep, guess I'll have to dink around on the internet for a while.

This weekend was a whirlwind.

Mom's friend's sister-in-law (catch that?) is having a baby. Of course you know what this meant... mom (err mom and I, because I am anonymously volunteered for each of her "activies") would be making the dessert and salad for the baby shower. For thirty people. Did I mention midterms are coming up?

But yes, like the good daughter that I am I was up at 9:30 (ouch, my only morning to sleep in) on Saturday to run around town (looking like a ragamuffin with unwashed face, hair, crusty sweat pants and dirty collegiate shirt). Love how mom said "just come as you are, you can shower at home!"

I did get my eyebrows waxed, which made me feel better, of course!

Then it was on to costco to get the salad supplies and back home to frost 50 cookies.

All in all it was a wonderful shower and a success.

Tonight I had new member meeting. It did go well, but I must say I'm looking forward to living in the house next year. I hate the commute thing, I miss out on some fun stuff : (

Since it was a creative weekend too:

And I am so pathetic right now. I saw Matt at 2:30 and I miss him. We are too cute. We especially were at the party, holding hands and always sitting next to each other. You can't have too much love, can you?

(Secretly loves the fact that we miss each other just after minutes : )

I am so happy Matt is in my life. He's so good for me, and good to me. The boy treats me well, what can I say ; )

This was another overdue lo. Please ignore my fat leg (another incentive to go to the gym). I tried to cover it up with the quote sticker...

Together_finally011

God (because I know you read this) thank you for bringing him into my life and I am so happy he loves me: smart mouth, fat leg, and all ; )

it's a fall thing

Img_3599

Well it's about 30 degrees and it snowed today, but last weekend was just gorgeous! All the heat this summer and early cool weather produced some really amazing colors.

Things are winding down, and I almost can physically feel that seasons change.

There will always be something very refreshing about fall, loving this time of year.

In other news:
-I worked hard on a French composition and got a 90% on the rough draft. Wo-ho. Toot-toot.
-My halloween costume is almost all set. I just need a black turtleneck. Nope, not telling yet!
-Went to my second "Monday Night Dinner," that was great and of course dropped by for lunch, too!
-Gearing up for a huge weekend, but I really need to do some shopping
-Yep, our roomate broke the contract. already. it hasn't even been 2 weeks.
-Eliminated something from my life that was sucking up my time too much and becoming less of a fun thing to do (can you guess which one? lol)
-Made some yummy chicken last night ; )

pledged!

Well I think it's time to purchase some crazy, fun sorority reading material...

I pledged last Monday evening : )

Here is a photo of my big sister and I, all in white of course ; ) Please ignore my ugliness...

Img_3567

Every Monday night we have "Monday Night Dinner." This is a nice chance for people to get dressed up and eat a formal dinner.

Img_3568

In other news mom and I had a fun "girls weekend." We watched the American Girl Samantha movie (we both were in tears, simply adorable!) and "The Lake House" (bad). Then cookie baking (we're doing a baby shower next weekend) and church early this morning.

I did get the chance to take some fall photos, but I'm busy for now...

lovin' my dorky self ; )

Some of my best childhood memories were wrapped in time spent with my American Girl dolls!

I loved them, and most of all the during Christmas time when we'd go and visit family and cousins on the east coast and I had the chance to play "American Girl" with my cousins...

My first doll was Samantha, the victorian, and a perfect match for me: the ultimate girly girl. For obvious reasons dad thought it would be a good idea to get me Addy the following Christmas. My collection continued to grow. I was all about dolls growing up, and yes they're pricey, but oh so worth it. Those memories are my most cherished.

Well I went onto their website the other day and noticed that there are now AG movies! Wow, I cannot wait to get Samantha's and watch it with mom. She'll understand and connect with my dorky self ; )
