perfect fall days

We've been lucking out with amazing weather. Sunny days, crisp nights, and that perfect breeze. Yes, fall is here!

Sunday afternoon I got the chance to do some photos of my parent's neighbors. They were just adorable, and even more so in their church clothes (what is it about kids dressed up that is just too cute?)

Here is the album, so take a peak! I will have more up later and will also update the photo site, so sit tight : )

In other news, this fabulous show had a premier a few nights ago...

Can we not even talk about how much I (and Matt, hehe) loves it? I've added season 2 to my amazon wish list.

Of all the women I'm probably most like Bree (shout out to Shannon!) People have told me I can be uptight and a bit proper, but hey I'm plenty of fun- especially when it comes to organizing and doing crafts!

Now, Matt might say I'm a little bit Gabi, too. ; )

What would the new school year be without a new scrapbook? I feel really proud of myself that I've found a good system. Each school year I do one scrapbook and each summer I do one scrapbook. In addition I've started one just for Matt and I charting our second year of dating (wow). For a long time I used Pulp binders, but they dissapeared off the face of the earth and so now I use Archiver's : )

My only dilema is... how to do my sorority? Chances are I'm going to have a ton of 5x6 and even larger photos... I know that I could get one that is made for AOTT, but I'm thinking of just doing a simple 12x12. What do you think? I really am an 8.5x11 scrapper, but I'd probably just go out and buy Becky's book of sketches to ease me over. Advice ladies!

bid day 2006

Monday I was invited to become a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority! I couldn't be happier, I feel so lucky to have gotten my first choice : ) Here are some photos of bid day!

Img_0124Here is the entire pledge class, see if you can find me!

last night I actually stayed over at the house, which was a ton of fun, but I didn't get any work done. So I'm off for now!

blessed

Img_3430_copy

You know, sometimes I catch myself and realize how blessed I truly am. A little over one month ago Matt moved halfway across the country to live. To be with me.

Love is free, and I'm not just talking about the love between him and I, because I'm so much more than that type of girl, just love in general.

So to put it quickly: thanks God! You've blessed me time and time again with wonderful people in my life. I've not always done good, but I try to be the best I can. Keep up the good work, keep sending me amazing people who touch my life!

(do you think he reads my blog?) ; )

In other news:

Life is so busy now, but soon I'll be used to my routine. Right now I'm still in the middle of rush (promise to let all you readers know when I'm in a chapter), but for now my focus is applying to the journalism school.

I'm not positive on this, but I still want to apply. We'll see. I hope they accept me, and my dang 3.945 gpa (d*mn whomever decided to weight pluses and minuses!) <- Another example of how a perfectionist/people pleaser never quits complaining!

This weekend mom is having a fun party, hopefully I'll pick up some photography clients. After my work for the school in San Fran I'm hoping to get some more stuff!

Well I should go work on my French er... relax instead!

To Honor:

47

I filed this special entry under "family," because in many ways every one of the victims of 9/11 was a family member to me. We are all children of God, and these men and women were our brothers and sisters.

Today I've chosen to honor one life. That of John Charles Jenkins, a 45-year-old man from Cambridge, Mass.

Although having only spent a few weeks of vacation in New England I can only imagine the full and wonederul life John lived in one of the most historic and beautiful places in our country, on earth. There's just something about New England. For John, it was his home- the place where he lived alongside friends and family. Laughed, cried, worked, rested.

John passed away on American Airlines flight 11. It is truly tragic and a horrific thing to imagine.

I have no idea if John was religious. But one thing is for sure, he will be greatly missed, and he is with our heavenly father today.

rush week!

Just got back from my very first sorority information meeting. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited! There are just so many to choose from, and everyone just seems so sweet, wonderful, genuine. Certainly not the stereotype I expected.

Blog readers, if you pledged feel free to e-mail me with any good "tips" or just comment below!

So far, the ones I really like are:
Alpha Omicron Pi
Kappa Kappa Gamma (cough, cough Katherine, weren't you in this one ; )
Gamma Phi Beta
Alpha Phi

It's all up my ally and next Monday I'll let you know, bid day will sure be pretty busy!

The State Fair!

We have a great state fair here in Minnesota! Img_3394_1
As you can imagine, most people come here for the food! Matt and I munched on: 3 crepes, cheese curds, honey ice cream, curly fries, and pickles!. Check out the album for more pictures!

sister girl is crafty!

A week back I decided I wanted to make those ribbon belts. Well I don't know if there was a mass migration of crafty, preppy girls to every Minneapolis fabric and craft shop, but there was nothing to choose from! So since that project had to go on hold until I ordered some ribbon online I decided to make another belt.

There's a great fabric place here called Treddle Yard Goods that carries specialty er... fashionable fabric and patterns (think Amy Butler).

So I found two great contrasting fabrics and created just a simple tie belt. It took me probably 25 minutes to cut out then sew. I'm thinking of making some for my buddies and even adding a monogram!
